A Free Gift from Ryan Taylor - an excellent choral composer!
Easter Music!
Here is the email I just received.
CHOIRWORKS MISSION
In the early days of Choirworks.com my original intent was
to make all my choral works freely available, but as financial pressures
mounted and family responsibilities grew, I made a switch to charging a small
amount for arrangements. Over the years I've been grateful for that small
trickle of income . . . However, I've long hoped to be able to reinstate my
original purpose for the site and to free up time to consistently release more
choral music (it takes the better part of a week to write a new work for
choir).
FIRST STEP
As a first step toward that goal, I've started building a
new 'mobile friendly' website and made four arrangements appropriate for Easter
freely available. Please visit http://www.choirworks.com/new/
and scroll down to find . . .
- All Glory, Laud and Honor
- Beautiful Savior
- I Know that My Redeemer Lives
- Wondrous Love
Over time, I intend to move all my choral music to the new
site, sent freely into the world. I'll be doing this in two stages, after which
I hope to start writing and releasing new music again (its all a matter of
time).--

Music Theory 101
Music Theory 101
Want to test your Music Theory knowledge? Take this "simple" test to see if you know how to identify the names of the notes on the Treble (G) and Bass (F) clefs. When you are done, send me an email and let me know how you did. Using this test with your choir members can be helpful in identifying "who knows what". From there it is easier to decide what you need to teach and to whom.

Liberty Stake String Quartet
Wouldn't it be awesome to have a standing String Quartet in the stake? Then when there are visiting general authorities, or genealogy conference lunches or open houses of one sort or another a string quartet could be providing quiet background music to the event. Would that not be very cool? If there was interest in doing such a thing among the many string players in the stake, we would probably have 8 or even 12 players participate so we would be more likely to have 4 available for any given event. What do you think? Give me your feedback.
(This would help us as ward/branch/stake music chairmen to fulfill our duty to "...help find opportunities for developing musicians to use their talents and encourage them to continue developing their skills."
